We hope you were able to make one change from our list of suggestions last week. This week we feature a few more of our favourite kitchen tools!
Alternatives to Plastics in the Kitchen
Plastics contain chemical toxins that are bad for your body and the environment, especially when they are heated. Plastics can contain chemicals such as BPA and phthalates which are hormone disrupters. Here are some alternatives to using plastics in the kitchen.
tainless steel water bottles are a great alternative to plastic water bottles. They range greatly in style and price. While the price or brand is not important, it is important to ensure you are not drinking through any plastic and choose either a metal cap or a lid that is removed to drink directly from the water bottle. S’well water bottles, Hydroflask and Klean Kanteen are popular brands that come in different designs and sizes. Dr. Chris and Mike carry their Klean Kanteen with them wherever they go!
We were over the moon when plastic straws were banned in France. If you are a person who likes to use a straw, a glass straw is a great idea!
It is recommended that you drink at least half your body weight in ounces each day. The healthiest way to do this is through a water filter. We love the Berkey Filter which filters out bacteria, viruses, contaminants and harmful chemicals while allowing the beneficial minerals (such as calcium and magnesium) to stay in the water.
