Dr. McCarthy is a welcome addition to our clinic. She believes that the most important way to reach our own full potential is to be the healthiest we can be each day. Whether we want to be our best for ourselves or for our families and friends or for our jobs or for society – or all of those – we need to feel great to live fully.
“I came to naturopathic medicine after years of watching my father suffer with severe rheumatoid arthritis. Witnessing his path to better health inspired me to help others do the same. I received my honours bachelor of science degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario and followed that with the four-year Naturopathic Doctor degree at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, Ontario. Since then, I have worked in private practice and have also worked for Health Canada in the Natural Health Products Directorate with the regulation of natural health products in Canada.
Feeling great on all levels is a state of harmony where the body, mind and soul are in balance. Simple but powerful aspects of daily life such as fresh air, pure water, clean food, non-toxic environments, exercise and mindfulness all play a part in getting there. I believe that the individual must play the biggest role in their own path to better health. My role as your naturopathic doctor is to listen to your whole story, help identify the obstacles across your path to health and provide you with guidance to help restore your body’s natural ability to regenerate and find balance.
The therapies that I use when assessing and treating patients include nutrition, herbal medicine, biotherapeutic drainage, homeopathy, stress management techniques, and Bowen Therapy. Lab testing is also an important part of my practice.
I am continually inspired by the effectiveness of naturopathic medicine for those I work with and for my own children and family. I hope to share that inspiration and awe with you and your family. I would be sincerely happy to work with you on your journey to health and well-being.”
