The Dirty Dozen & The Clean 15

If you’ve ever wondered which fruits and vegetables are most contaminated with pesticides, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has answers. Its annual Shopper’s Guide highlights the Dirty Dozen which can help consumers reduce exposure to potentially harmful chemicals while still eating plenty of produce. According to them, below are the 12 fruits and veggies in 2026 that were deemed to be “most contaminated with pesticides.”

Alternatively, the Clean Fifteen helps consumers make informed choices about which produce they can buy non-organic if they want to reduce pesticide exposure while managing grocery costs. It complements the Dirty Dozen, and often includes items with thick skins, peels, or husks, which naturally protect the edible portion from pesticide contamination.
